TELETHERAPY

PSYCHOTHERAPY FROM THE COMFORT OF HOME

I provide individual psychotherapy to adults located in New Jersey, Connecticut and Florida via video using a secure HIPAA compliant practice management software.  My practice is 100% virtual which means you have sessions from the comfort of your own home or office without sacrificing quality for convenience.

It's important for you to have privacy during the sessions, just as you would have in a traditional office setting. Clients have had sessions from their homes, offices and even their cars. For safety purposes, you must be pulled over and parked for the entirety of the session. Person Centered Tech has great advice for preparing for and participating in teletherapy sessions. I tailor interventions based on the individual client's needs and preferences, drawing from an eclectic mix of therapeutic approaches. Depending on the client, we may work through how the past is affecting the present using a psychodynamic framework. More often clients are seeking help with improving their current life satisfaction and find Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) beneficial. I believe in the premise of CBT that our thoughts are powerful and can influence how we feel and how we behave.  Were you ever 100% convinced that you failed at something only to learn that the opposite was true? Have you ever worried so much about what was going to happen that you experienced headaches, stomachaches, insomnia or overwhelming misery and then nothing horrible happened? These are examples of unhealthy thinking patterns that are not based on facts, and that can lead to depression and anxiety. Working together using CBT we'll identify what your patterns are and how to reframe and redirect the thoughts. The results of this evidence based treatment are improved mood and overall wellbeing.

ABOUT ME

Hi, I'm Christina Van Jura, MSW, LCSW a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in New Jersey and licensed to practice in both New Jersey and Connecticut and a registered out-of-state provider in Florida. I've worked with clients in a variety of treatment settings from inpatient psychiatry, day programs to private practice for nearly 20 years. I am trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Exposure and Ritual Prevention (ExRP). I focus on helping people with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and Anxiety Disorders such as Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Social Anxiety Disorder and Panic Disorder decrease or eliminate symptoms in order to improve overall life satisfaction.

I will help you to establish manageable goals and will assist you with learning and practicing skills during sessions. Depending on your goals and needs, we may, for example, role play social situations that make you anxious, practice exercises that help desensitize you to the physical sensations of a panic attack or create a list of and practice exposures to eradicate intrusive, distressing thoughts.

We may also spend time identifying and talking about your thinking patterns that are causing low or anxious moods. After we've identified what the problematic thought patterns are, you'll create alternative explanations and learn to recognize that there are likely many ways to interpret and respond to one situation. These techniques are introduced and practiced during the session. In between sessions, you will have homework to complete that helps to reinforce the skills. I don't collect the homework, but we do discuss what you've been working on. I will be with you throughout the process providing education about what we we'll be doing and how it will be done.

It's important to note that commitment and consistency are key elements for successful treatment.

Additionally, I have a particular interest and experience working with people adjusting to their changing bodies and their relationship with food after bariatric surgery. Post surgery it is not uncommon for the body to change before the mind fully recognizes that one is navigating the world as a person of a smaller size. How do you see yourself? How do others see you? Are the results of the surgery what you were expecting? Exploring these questions and others will help you to accurately "see" yourself and be in your current physical body.

With skill and expertise I provide a supportive, caring environment that promotes healing, growth and change (yes, it can be done with teletherapy!)

My goal is to help you achieve yours.

What do you think? Are you ready to make a commitment to yourself?

INSURANCE

I am in network with most commercial Horizon BCBS of New Jersey plans.

Please contact Horizon BCBS New Jersey to see if I am in network with your particular plan and to inquire if Telehealth is a covered benefit under your plan.

I am an OUT OF NETWORK provider with other insurance companies.

I provide Superbills that can be submitted for reimbursement. Many PPO and POS plans offer partial reimbursement.

Check with your insurance company to see if you have out of network benefits

and if telehealth is covered by calling the member services line on the back of your insurance card.

Ask these questions when speaking to your insurance company:

  • Do I have a deductible?

  • How much of my deductible has been met this year?

  • What is my out-of-network deductible for outpatient mental health?

  • What is my out-of-network coinsurance for outpatient mental health?

  • Do I need a referral from an in-network provider to see someone out-of-network?

  • How do I submit claim forms for reimbursement? (Claims are forms that are sent to your insurance company to receive reimbursement for sessions you paid for out of pocket.)

  • Is telehealth covered?
